About Me
Hi 👋 #
My name is Treylon Wofford. I’m based in Atlanta, GA, and originally from a small town called Marshall, TX. I’m an Alignment Research Engineer and IBM Qiskit Advocate working at the intersection of AI safety and quantum computing. My background is in quantum machine learning and AI optimization, with hands-on experience in quantum algorithms, qubit architecture, and quantum error correction. My current focus is alignment research through ARENA’s program: decomposing model internals with sparse autoencoders, studying emergent misalignment in finetuned models, implementing RLHF end-to-end, and building evaluations with UK AISI’s Inspect framework. What drives me is a single question: how do we make advanced AI systems safer and more understandable, and where can quantum computing accelerate that work?
Beyond my own projects, I’m active in both communities I work in. On the quantum side, you’ll find me in the Qiskit and Unitary Fund Discord communities. On the AI safety side, I’m part of the ARENA and AI Alignment Slack communities, where I stay connected to current research and the people doing it.
